The Bozeman Public Library offers more than just a vast selection of books, periodicals, and movies to its many pass-holders—it also hosts a number of community and other events open to the public. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
“Bitter Pill: Montana Lives Affected by Rx Abuse” is scheduled to visit Bozeman from Sunday, March 26th through Friday, April 7th. An opening reception with refreshments will be held Monday, March 27th from 6–8pm. A closing panel discussion will be held Wednesday, April 5th from 6–8pm at the Library.
The Bitter Pill is a collection of artwork donated by survivors of prescription drug addiction that touchingly expresses the struggle, loss, and extreme cost of abuse. The goal of this exhibit is to start a positive community conversation about the problem of prescription drug abuse from the perspective of those most affected. The exhibit will also feature the resources and outreach that is available in Gallatin County for individuals struggling with addiction. Join in for this health outreach to bring a conversation into our community and discover ways to help each other recover and build a better Montana.
The Library is starting a seed library for gardeners, green thumbs, and greenhorns alike! The kickoff event is the Bozeman Seed Exchange on Saturday, April 1st from 1–3pm in both meeting rooms. Here’s how the seed library works: borrow seeds from BPL, plant them, tend to them, harvest them, enjoy the fruits of your labor, and at the end of the growing season, save those seeds, and return them to the Library in the fall! Look for gardening classes throughout the year. For more information, call (406) 582-2416. The Seed Exchange is co-sponsored by the Black Robin Farm.
Yoga for All abilities continues into spring, held every Tuesday from 11–11:45am and 12–12:45pm in the Large Community Room. The morning class is taught by accomplished yoga instructor Karen Averitt and the noon class by local mom and instructor Jen DuCharme. The morning class tends to have more kids following Books & Babies, but all are welcome to either class. Open to all ages and abilities, instructors focus on the basics of yoga, breathing, and mind/body connections. Please bring your own mat and any props you choose to use.
In previous years, the Library Foundation’s annual Cornerstone Celebration was held in April. This year, the event has been moved to Saturday, October 7th, and will be at Riverside Country Club. Please be sure to save the date on your calendars—more details to come!
The Bozeman Public Library is located at 626 E. Main Street. For more information on these and other events, please visit www.bozemanlibrary.org/. •
