BOZEMAN – Bozeman’s South Willson Avenue, which has been closed at intermittent locations for construction this spring, will be open temporarily for Montana State University’s spring commencement ceremonies on beginning on Thursday, May 5 and will be closed again May 8, according to Bozeman city officials.
Craig Wollard, the director of public works for the City of Bozeman, said the city expects the busy arterial to be open Thursday morning for MSU commencement and graduation reunion weekend activities. It will close again Sunday morning. He said orange traffic candles will be in place around a few pedestrian ramps as well as the area between Arthur and College streets along the parking lanes of South Willson in areas where the water main trench has not been patched with asphalt.
MSU commencement events begin Friday, May 6, with college celebrations. MSU commencement reunion activities begin Thursday, May 5, for graduates of MSU classes of 1946, 1956 and 1966.
MSU will host two spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday. The morning ceremony, which will include candidates for graduation from the colleges of Agriculture, Arts and Architecture, Education, Health and Human Development, Nursing and Gallatin College MSU, will be at 9 a.m. with a processional beginning at 8:40 a.m. Lineup begins at 7:45 a.m.
The afternoon commencement ceremony, which will include candidates for graduation from the colleges of Engineering, the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship and Letters and Science, will be at 1:30 p.m. Lineup begins at 12:15 p.m. with a processional at 1:10 p.m.
