BOZEMAN JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL IN ITS THIRD YEAR
Under the auspices of Congregation Beth Shalom, this summer marks the third consecutive year of outstanding films of Jewish interest being brought to the Bozeman area. Covering the gamut from comedy to drama to documentary, the presentations will be screened at the comfortable Procrastinator Theater in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the MSU campus at 7 PM on May 24, May 31, June 7, July 5, July 26 and August 2.
The films–all award winners in various categories–will be “The Women’s Balcony”, “AKA Nadia”, “A Grain of Truth”, “Welcome”, “Denial” and “Keep Quiet”. The themes are thought provoking…even “The Women’s Balcony”, a light comedy, examines what can happen when moderation confronts extremism. And they are as topical as today…follow, for example, the arduous journey of an Iraqi emigrant in “Welcome” as he makes his way from Mosul in an effort to rejoin the girl he loves in England. Reaching France, he is out of money and faced with the English Channel.
There is no admission charged to any of the films, although any donations at the door are gratefully accepted.
